Unable to reach a resolution following months of transatlantic negotiations, the U.S. government has announced its intention to take its dispute with the European Union over aircraft manufacturing subsidies to the World Trade Organization (WTO).

"For almost a year, the United States has tried to convince the EU to negotiate an end to subsidies for large civil aircraft," U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) Rob Portman said in a statement released last weekend.
