IT is the Holy Grail for new parents - getting your baby off to sleep.
But when it comes to ensuring a restful night for both their child and themselves, today's mothers and fathers fare far worse than their own parents.
In the 1960s and 1970s, mothers said their babies took less than half an hour to drift off to sleep - and only woke up twice during the night.
Today's generation, however, say their babies not only take twice as long to fall asleep, they also stir more frequently, leaving modern mums starved of sleep.
