DENVER _ In a span of two months, Jose Contreras has transformed himself from an enigma into one of the White Sox's most reliable pitchers.
"To be honest with you, I always thought we'd have a little problem with him, but he picked it up very quickly," Sox manager Ozzie Guillen said before Tuesday night's 2-1 interleague victory at Colorado.
"And he started believing he can pitch. He believed he could pitch at this level. But the biggest surprise and one of the best things that ever has happened to us is him throwing the way he's throwing right now."
