As any baseball player will be happy to tell you, those in the clubhouse tend to be the last to hear about significant happenings around a team.
Sunday morning, then, there were a couple dozen Reds going through their normal batting-practice routine at Coors Field with one eye on chief operating officer John Allen, trying to figure out what to make of his unexpected presence.
