Jun. 9--TOKYO -- Japan's win over North Korea on Wednesday to qualify for the 2006 World Cup soccer finals in Germany has delighted travel agents and consumer electronics stores that expect to benefit from the event.
"We want to gain momentum from the World Cup (in June next year) before the summer travel season," said an official at travel agent JTB Corp.
JTB chartered planes to transport 600 Japanese supporters when Japan took part in the 1998 World Cup finals in France.
Ishimaru Denki Co., which runs electronics stores, expects to boost sales this year toward the 2006 World Cup after seeing robust sales of expensive large-screen TVs and DVD ...
