BLAUVELT, N.Y. -- It is 3 a.m. and all are sleep--except for the one-third of adults in the United States who wake in the night or wake too early and are unable to return to sleep several times per week, according to a recently released National Sleep Foundation poll, "Sleep in America."
Holly Rosenthal, a marketing consultant with a long history of developing products for major drug and cosmetics companies, suffered that problem herself. A review of store shelves showed her that there were no products available to address middle-of-the-night awakening, the sleep problem she shares with an estimated 70 million Americans.
