Warden to become chair of Zoological Society
Gail Warden, president emeritus of the Henry Ford Health System, will succeed Ruth Glancy as chairman of the Detroit Zoological Society on June 21.
Glancy, who steps down after 15 years at the helm, will be chairman emeritus and continue to work closely with Warden and other members of the office of the chairman of the Zoological Society.
Warden and the board face the imminent loss of $2 million in city funding. Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick made the cut as part of his budget proposal. He vetoed on Thursday a City Council proposal that would have restored the money.
