GEORGIA OFFERS LARGE POWER COMPANIES FOR SALE
The Georgian Economic Development Ministry on May 3 offered a number of large energy companies for sale, including AO Unified Energy Distribution Company of Georgia, Ajaria Energy Distribution Company, and also five hydro power plants in western Georgia - Lanjanuri, Gumati, Dzevruli, Shaori and Rioni hydro plants.
A source in the ministry told Interfax that bids to acquire these companies will be accepted until May 15, 2005. Negotiations with interested companies on the conditions for privatizing these companies, including their cost, will be held over the next three months.
