Shanghai. May 20. INTERFAX-CHINA - China's Audio Video Coding Standard (AVS), a Chinese-developed standard comparable to the MPEG international video and audio standard, will enter industrialization this year.

The first step will be the setup of an AVS industrial association, slated for May 25. This association will include the AVS Workgroup, which developed the standard, and 11 other companies.
