On a sunny Sunday afternoon I pitch up at Battersea Tec College in south London with a full plastic bag and a teddy bear. I may look like a long lost pupil; in fact, I am here for the car boot sale that organiser Tracey Hobson describes as '100 per cent reliable and open 50 weeks per year, even in snow.' It sounds too good to be true. Car boot sales are popular all over Britain and have involved public figures such as Victoria Beckham in the Selfridges Car Boot Sale for charity and Prince Charles who organised charity fundraiser Loot Boot, a near-record breaking event with 20,000 people attending.
