Frustrated with repeated delays in developing a riverfront housing and shopping district over the past five years, Hamilton County officials decided Friday to take control of the Banks project away from the regional Port Authority and work directly with private developers.

County commissioners unanimously approved selecting two local development firms to build the multimillion-dollar project.

Corporex Cos. and Vandercar Holdings Inc. will form a partnership called the Banks Development Co.
