TOKYO, June 14 Asia Pulse - Nearly a quarter of listed companies either offer shareholder benefit packages or have announced plans to do so, according to data compiled by Nihon Keizai Shimbun Inc. as of Monday.

Given that many individual investors become shareholders due to the products and services provided in the benefit packages, firms are increasingly considering them on a par with dividends. Those offering shareholder benefits rose to 908 publicly traded companies, up 52 from Sept. 30, 2004.
