Upon promotion to an assistant front-line supervisor, I was fortunate to wor k for a veteran supervisor who took me "under his wing" by explaining and demonstrating how to effectively supervise employees. This 25-year veteran defined the word effectively as "being able to consistently meet the company's goals for growth, through people." In order to supervise effectively, he believed front-line supervisors needed a set of principles. Not surprisingly, such principles assisted the supervisor in "leading by example".
