Coon Rapids is in the midst of redeveloping a 6-mile stretch of Coon Rapids Boulevard. Residents and city officials are eager for changes that will bring in pockets of new housing, shops and other businesses and give the area a much-needed tuneup.
Coon Rapids Boulevard came up often in a survey conducted this spring as part of the city's "2030 Vision" process. When survey firm Decision Resources Ltd. asked residents an open-ended question about what areas needed redevelopment, 58 percent said Coon Rapids Boulevard.
