One of the strongest supporters of LNG development along the Gulf Coast is now unequivocally on record in not supporting any development off the coast of Louisiana that uses open-rack regasification systems to reheat the LNG.
Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco sent a letter to John Jamian, acting administrator of the US Department of Transportation's Maritime Administration, saying she is opposing further licensing of offshore terminals that use the technology "until studies demonstrate that the operation of the open-rack vaporizer will not have an unacceptable impact on the surrounding ecosystem.
