McDonald's billion-dollar legacy of billions and billions of burgers might bring $60 million to downtown Syracuse for the Salvation Army to create a $30 million multifaceted community center.
The Salvation Army, Syracuse Area Services, is seeking $25 million to $30 million to build one of 48 centers nationwide named for Ray and Joan Kroc, whose bequest is paying for them.
The program would provide a matching $30 million to set up an endowment to sustain operations of the Kroc center.
The plan is to level the Syracuse Salvation Army's buildings at 677 S. Salina St., near Adams Street, and build there anew. ...
