Tight deadline on workplace reform agenda.

Jun 19, 2005 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX)

The Australian Government wants to pass its workplace reform legislation by the end of 2005. Federal Workplace Relations Minister, Kevin Andrews, is organising the drafting of the laws. The legislation is being rewritten rather than amended, involving many critical policy decisions. It needs to go before parliament in September or October 2005. The Government wants the new laws in place when new enterprise agreements are negotiated in the manufacturing industry in early 2006. The ACTU is undertaking an advertising campaign to reveal the cost of the changes to workers.
