On Jan. 8, 2005, Chad Sokolowski, CCE, CCE/Juv, joined thousands of his fellow corrections professionals in Phoenix for the American Correctional Association's 2005 Winter Conference. Sokolowski came to the heart of the Southwest not only to enjoy the conference, but also to take a correctional certification exam. He entered the designated room, sat at an empty desk, took out a sharpened No. 2 pencil and completed the first certified corrections executive/juvenile (CCE/Juv) certification exam.
