While Germany had stellar issuance levels in the U.S. private placement market last year stealing the show with big name auto companies such as BMW, Volkswagen AG and Porsche AG, the country's appearance has dwindled so far this year.

HVB Capital Markets, however, managed to bring in a hefty Germany-based deal to the market last week, sources said. Messer Group, an industrial gas manufacturer and supplier entered the market seeking $240 million of senior secured notes. Possible seven- and 10-year bullets were heard with price talk at 130 basis points over Treasurys and 140 basis points over the same benchmark, respectively, sources familiar with the deal said. ...
