4,700 Children to be Served Under PA Governor's Budget

HARRISBURG, Pa., June 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Head Start would serve 4,700 children through the state's expanded Head Start Supplemental Assistance Program under Pennsylvania Gov. Edward G. Rendell's Proposed FY 2005-06 Budget.

If the Legislature agrees to fully fund the Head Start program at the $30 million requested by Rendell, the number of children participating in state- funded Head Start will increase by nearly 90 percent. The FY 2004-05 Budget contained $15 million in Pennsylvania's first-ever funding for Head Start, benefiting 2,486 children.
