Hungarian government on EU budget crisis: reforms needed but farm subsidies must stay
Budapest. June 20. INTERFAX-EUROPE - The Hungarian government recognizes the need for EU budget reform but remains committed to farm subsidies under the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), said minister for EU affairs Etele Barath in a joint press conference with foreign minister Laszlo Somogyi and British ambassador John Nichols on Monday.
Barath was establishing the Hungarian government's position after the collapse of EU budget talks over the weekend. Talks broke down after British prime minister Tony Blair refused to negotiate the British budget rebate without reform ...
