At a pair of concerts this week in the Schubert Club's Summer Song Festival, one got the impression that songs are like human beings: infinitely variable, full of emotion and likely to pop up anywhere.
The pianist Steven Blier, whose New York Festival of Song served as a model for this festival, now in its second year, offered a program titled "Latin Lovers" Tuesday night at the SPCO Center in St. Paul, acting as host and pianist.
