HAING S. NGOR was born into poverty in Samrong Young, Cambodia, on March 22, 1940. He moved to Phnom Penh against his father's wishes, where he became an obstetrician and gynaecologist.
There he met the love of his life, Huoy, but, sadly, his situation was about to change for the worse.
