The role of health care risk manager is emerging just in time to serve an industry hemorrhaging risk, said Franklin Kavaler, course director of the Institute of Medical Law's fledgling health care risk management educational program.
"We teach medical professionals how to reduce risk in a medical establishment be it a hospital, doctor's office, clinic or emergency room," Mr. Kavaler said of the program.
"That risk can be defined in many ways. However, it always seems to be malpractice based," he added.
