In 1993 the National Center for Sleep Disorders Research published data indicating that 25% of children between 1 and 5 years of age experience some type of sleep disturbance. We also know that childhood sleep disturbances tend to persist if left untreated, and children with sleep-waking disorders during the first year of life often experience multiple sleep problems in later years. Early action is the key, as treating sleep disorders before children fall too far behind in school can significantly improve academic performance, behavioral health, self esteem and quality of life.
