While liability insurance is fraught with loopholes, the main problem, of course, is that rental owners can't get along without it. "Liability insurance is a necessary evil," said independent rental owner John Fedorko. President, C&F Interests Inc., Houston.
"Anybody can have an unfortunate incident occur on his property," said Fedorko, who operates five properties comprising 332 garden-style apartments. "If you don't have liability insurance, you put yourself at risk for severe financial hardship. It's foolish not to carry this insurance."
