The February edition of Accountancy Ireland (Vol. 37 No. 1) featured an article on credit unions by Peter Pierse. The general thrust of the article places credit unions in the current context of an aggressive profit driven financial services industry and a restrictive regulatory infrastructure that is finding its feet. The analysis contained in the article is informative for both credit union readers and those outside the movement albeit some clarity is needed regarding the role of the Irish League of Credit Unions.
