AIR FORCE TO ASSIGN B-1B, B-52 BC

The Air Force announced yesterday its intent to begin the process of assigning B-lB and B-52 bombers to the Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve.

Existing units will convert from their current aircraft to the heavy conventional bombers, according to a Pentagon statement.

"This change reflects the Air Force's long-standing commitment to the total force policy and allows citizen/airmen to contribute to the bomber's expanding conventional role," it said.
