GO OUTSIDE sometime after half past ten tonight and look due south east, towards the horizon. If you are lucky and the clouds keep away, you will be treated to one of Nature's most amazing spectacles - a hanging moon.
Everything about our moon will appear as normal; the craters (visible with even a cheap pair of binoculars) will still be there, as will the mountains and 'seas' - dark patches of volcanic rock.
The Man in the Moon will still be smiling his cheery smile down at us from his lofty vantage point, a quarter of a million miles away.
But in one important aspect, the moon will seem rather different. Thanks ...
