TOKYO, June 23 Asia Pulse - Domestic LCD television shipments in May surpassed CRT (cathode-ray tube) TVs for the first time ever on a monthly basis, according to figures released Wednesday by the Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association (JEITA).

LCD TV shipments reached 291,000 units, while CRT TVs totaled 240,000. With prices of LCD TVs plummeting, demand has shifted to these units.
