Jun. 24--DETROIT -- GM SNEAK PREVIEW SHOWS SOME SIGNS-OF-LIFE VEHICLES: There were more oohs than ughs when General Motors opened its Design Dome here last week for a media peek at 18 vehicles coming in the next 30 months.

The look-into-the-future gambit was pioneered at Chrysler Corp. in the early 1990s by then-Chairman Lee Iacocca. As folks started hammering nails into the coffin of the near-bankrupt Chrysler, Iacocca unveiled cars planned for the next two years to show that he had the stuff for a recovery if given the time to bring them out.
