After months of discord, the House of Representatives' education committee is coming together behind a Head Start improvement bill with major changes in how federal grantees operate their programs.
The Education and the Workforce Committee approved H.R. 3123 in a bipartisan vote, sending the measure to the full House. Republicans and Democrats came together to voice support for the compromise plan, which rejects more state control of Head Start but includes provisions to require partnerships and more accountability for grantees.
