Jun. 24--Colon cancer is the second leading cause of death in Kentucky. Every year, the disease kills more Kentuckians than breast cancer and AIDS combined. But it's also a disease that the general public tends to ignore.
Dr. Whitney Jones would like for that to change.
Jones spoke to about 30 people at a lunch Thursday at the Owensboro Medical Health System about ways to educate residents of the risks of colon cancer.
"Our goal is to improve the quality of life in Kentucky by preventing unnecessary suffering and premature death from colon cancer," Jones said.
