Software magnate Farhad "Fred" Ebrahimi is busy with a new job: overseeing development of a sprawling community in India, one he hopes will serve as a state- of-the-art model for future cities.
The name of this emerging but little reported-on community: Quark City, named after Denver-based Quark Inc., a privately held software maker owned by Ebrahimi.
Quark City is situated in the northern state of Punjab, an agricultural region not known for high-tech industry.
