The European Parliament's Industry Committee has called for the EU's contribution to the deployment and commercial operation phases of the Galileo satellite navigation programme to be repaid in view of the profits programme exploitation is expected to generate. The report by Etelka Barsi-Pataky (EPP-ED, Hungary) on implementation of the deployment and commercial operation phases of the programme, adopted unanimously on June 21, proposes a "profit-sharing mechanism" to enable the EU contribution to be repaid.
