Almost 1200 craft brewers showed up this past week in Philadelphia for the Craft Brewers Conference and BrewExpo. Brewers got a chance to sample some excellent beer, hone their knowledge through technical seminars and examine new equipment offerings at the BrewExpo trade show.
There is revived excitement among craft brewers, particularly since the craft beer segment's 7% increase in 2004 was spread throughout the sector.
Paul Gatza, director of the Institute for Brewing Studies, noted that smaller brewers in the segment actually accounted for much of the volume increase. "The top players didn't carry the industry in 2004," he said. "Much of the growth ...
