Organic foods are going to the dogs. And the cats. Even the birds.
Americans who already spend extra money on organic foods for themselves increasingly are doing the same for their pets.
It's a trend that prompted one supermarket chain to stock an organic dog and cat food called Castor & Pollux Pet Works formulas.
"There's been a big push in the last several years with human food, as far as eliminating trans fats and preservatives, chemicals, artificial flavors, sweet-eners," said Eric Carson, food category manager for the pet business.
