A new RSPCA report - which brings together statistics on a raft of animal welfare issues for the first time - concludes that some UK and EU legislation is failing to protect animals. It also acts as a benchmark for welfare standards in the future.
The statistics, which the RSPCA has obtained from government departments and agencies (Defra, the Home Office, HM Revenue and Customs), are used to illustrate the level of protection afforded to animals and where this could be improved in 10 key areas. These ...
