Jun. 26--The British company that owns Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. announced Friday that the Niagara Mohawk name will be dropped this fall.
The name National Grid and a new company logo will be used on all distribution trucks, signs, uniforms, mailings and other materials, according to the London-based National Grid Transco.
The company said the name change is being implemented in an attempt by the company to "unify under a single worldwide brand."
In addition to Niagara Mohawk, U.S. power distribution entities Massachusetts Electric, Narragansett Electric, Granite State Electric and Nantucket Electric will all adopt the National Grid name.
