Jun. 25--Some land owned by the Santa Fe National Forest near the College of Santa Fe could come up for sale, depending on the outcome of a debate in Congress.
Proposed legislation would give the U.S. secretary of agriculture broad powers to sell Forest Service land, lookout sites, visitors centers and other parcels.
"Our concern is this issue is not going to be debated. This would reverse 100 years of public ownership of these properties," said Erik Ryberg, a forest advocate with the Center for Biological Diversity in Tucson, Ariz ..
