Jun. 28--The U.S. Supreme Court ruled Monday that cable companies needn't offer rival Internet service providers access to their lines in a decision that could limit competition, but provide an incentive for companies to invest in new technology.
The 6-3 decision is a victory for the Bush administration, which argued that cable firms would be less likely to invest in broadband if they had to share their lines.
Cable companies, including Bright House Networks in Central Florida, applauded the ruling.
