The National Association of Black Journalist has expressed outrage at the number of Black and Hispanic reporters fired recently from the New York Daily News when ownership of the publication changed hands.
The association immediately issued a statement lambasting the decision of new owner Mortimer Zuckerman to fire a large portion of an already decidedly small number of Black and Hispanic reporters.
Zuckerman reportedly responded that the "percentage of minorities in the group offered employment" by him "is virtually identical" to the paper's percentage under former owner Robert Maxwell.
