WHITE PLAINS -- Daniel A. Rockmore, the new president and chief executive of State Bank of Westchester, has made a series of moves designed to help the bank regain its footing in the wake of sour real estate loans and the region's economic slump.

Earlier this year, State Bank terminated nearly half its staff as part of a restructuring plan designed to improve profits. As part of its months-long reorganization, the bank turned to industry veteran Rockmore for help.

State Bank is operating under a cease and desist order, but "has corrected almost all deficiencies and will be out of that situation in the near term," according to Rockmore.
