Article: Hybrid rocket motor successfully fired. (American Rocket Co.'s DM101 hybrid development motor)

American Rocket Co.'s DM-01 "hybrid" development motor produced an average of 220,000 pounds of thrust during the 15-second test. The motor combines traditional solid and motor rocket technologies by burning an inert synthetic rubber fuel with pure liquid oxygen.

AMROC, a privately funded company based in Ventura, Calif., said the test "demonstrates hybrid propulsion at a scale which is competitive with the solid and liquid motors powering America's current launch fleet."
