Internships are an important part of many financial planners' operations. The arrangement benefits both parties: The student receives real-world experience, while the firm gets a low-cost employee whom it can evaluate as a potential addition to the staff. But a number of planners have moved beyond hiring interns solely for planning-support roles. These advisers are hiring high school and college students for their technology expertise, and they report that in spite of their young ages these interns are making genuine contributions.
