Jul. 1--DOWNTOWN GAS STATION AND MARKET REOPENS: One of the few things that hasn't changed during a total makeover at Seaside Market & Liquor and the adjacent Shell service station on West Carrillo Street is the price of the gas . . . at $2.42 for regular unleaded, Masoud Emamy reckons it's still the cheapest -- or at least among the cheapest -- in town.

Emamy owns the market and manages the service station for owner and landlord John Price, providing drivers and other customers with a one-stop facility at the corner of Chapala Street, opposite the new Andalucia Hotel.
