COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. _ Lance Armstrong is not a lone rider.
He's a pedaling CEO, surrounded by a team that has escorted him to six straight Tour de France triumphs. He chases No.7 with his Discovery team beginning Saturday.
Sure, Armstrong ranks as a powerful rider and a matchless competitor, but he's also expert at selecting riders who restrict ambitions to help him grab his personal glory.
"It's a team event with an individual winner," said John Wilcockson, a Boulder, Colo., resident who wrote "23 Days in July," which chronicled Armstrong's 2004 Tour victory.
