Madison Memorial presented retiring athletic director, coach and teacher Gary Kolpin the perfect going-away gift.
Kolpin, whose last day on the job is today, has been a role model and mentor during his nearly three decades as athletic director.
So it was appropriate that the Spartans let him walk away as the winner that he truly is.
When Memorial advanced both its boys baseball and girls track and field teams to state this spring, that proved to be just what the Spartans needed to claim the third annual Capital Times All-Sports Award for the 2004-05 school year.
