Jul. 1--The Swedish electrical appliance producer Electrolux AB will set up a new factory in Thailand to make commercial laundry equipment after closing its 100-year-old base in Denmark later this year.
Construction of the new facility is now under way at a 425-million-baht plant on a 20-rai site in Rayong, according to Ettore Gregorini, president of Electrolux Laundry Systems (Thailand).
All production will be completely transferred from Europe to Thailand by 2007. Assembly lines will open on a limited basis later this year for mini-washers and dryers, and the Danish factory will be closed at the same time.
