Milling among fans at Friday's University of Cincinnati Big East celebration on Fountain Square was one of the most important men in the Bearcats' future in their new conference.
Cincinnati Mayor Charlie Luken shared the stage with UC president Nancy Zimpher, athletic director Bob Goin and Big East commissioner Mike Tranghese as the UC band played the school's fight song. Photographers focused on a cardboard cutout of basketball coach Bob Huggins. But UC football coach Mark Dantonio stood nearly anonymously among the crowd.
